Our History

RoboMat AG was founded in 1977 and today employs 55 highly trained specialists and apprentices.

What began in 1977 in a small garage with the first self-built machines has, over five decades, developed into a recognized Swiss Custom Machine builder. Continuous expansions, new sites, and technological advancements have shaped this journey – from a simple workshop to a company with deep engineering expertise and advanced automation capabilities.

1977

Year of establishment

ROBO-MAT AG was founded on March 1, 1977, by Hans and Susanne Meyer. Its main office was located at Hauptstrasse 19, 5312 Döttingen.

1978

First large machine leaves production

One year after the company was founded, a watch movement assembly machine leaves the factory: the rotary transfer machine with 16 stations assembles one movement every 5 seconds.

1981

Groundbreaking ceremony for the Kleindöttingen plant

Four years after its founding, RoboMat already has 14 employees. The production facilities in Döttingen became too small, and a new production building was constructed.

1985

First series order

In 1985, RoboMat had 28 employees working in two shifts on a major order for IBM. IBM was the largest computer manufacturer at the time and used RoboMat machines for the automated assembly of keyboards at its plant in Scotland.

At that time, 90% of sales were already being generated with foreign customers.

1991

Robo-Store

The Robo-Store was one of the first robot-assisted loading systems for mainframe computers and was installed throughout Europe. Even back then, the solution demonstrated how RoboMat automates complex processes and takes data access, availability, and operational reliability to a whole new level.

2005

Large-scale tooth production machine

In 2005, the first fully automated plastic tooth production machine was built, which has since been producing more than 20,000 plastic teeth every day.

2011

Change of ownership

Markus Zimmermann becomes the new owner and managing director of RoboMat AG

2011

First palletizer for MedTech

The palletizer for inhalers was the first application for the format gripper, which was subsequently further developed and is still widely used today.

2021

Laser welding machine

In 2021, another laser welding system was delivered, a process that is increasingly being used in RoboMat solutions.

2024

Move into the Koblenz production plant

As a result of a major order, RoboMat grows to 55 employees. Machines became larger and more complex. The establishment of the production plant in Koblenz provided the necessary space. The office workplaces remain at the Kleindöttingen plant for the time being.

2025

Acquisition by Vinci Energies

From 2025 onwards, RoboMat became part of Vinci Energies and has since continued under the industrial brand ACTEMIUM.
